A surprising release from Glenrothes - this is comprised entirely of ex-Bourbon whiskies (matured in Bourbon casks). The name Alba makes reference to Quercus Alba, the Latin name for American Oak. Not to be confused with ALMA - The Atacama Large Millimeter Array - one of the world's most sophisticated Radio Telescope Arrays - which doesn't taste as nice.
Now known as The Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve
Nose: Freshly baked bread with butter, almonds and coconut, a little white chocolate.
Palate: White pepper, cinnamon, a little blackberry. Whole vanilla pods in honey.
Finish: Lingering charred bourbon oak and orange oil.

Alba is ok for the price, but not up to the standard I am used to from The Glenrothes.A little fiery , even when the bottle is below the shoulders. There isn't much complexity to the nose, I get candied fruit mostly. The taste is sweet, honey more than the touted vanilla, at least to me. I like sweet, but this is more than where I would like it to be. Fruit flavors come through second, pineapple and coconut, and they linger nicely, which is the best part.
