Glen Breton 10 Year Old Ice

Canadian single malt finished in ice wine casks! This ten year old whisky claims to be the first to use casks that previously held icewine for maturation.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Really fascinating, sticky toffee pudding and ginger nut biscuits, and a really curious balancing savoury note, something herbal, possibly even lemon grass?

    Palate

Sweet, as expected, though just the right side of cloying. Quite oily with a solid note of char, both rich bourbon barrels and Ice Wine barriques showing through, a very light peat, tingling spices, stem ginger in syrup, smoky ginger and cappuccino, apple wood.

    Finish

Tingling heat and gentle Kentucky smoke, nutmeg.

    Overall

Just incredible, utterly unique and jaw-dropping!

    Original and pretty good

Its good whisky. Really original profile of taste. Dry leaves, marzipan and citrus aromas. Maybe not at the same level as some Scotisch at this price level, but in my opinion its deserve a chance. I give 4 stars for encouragement. I'd like to try it at a slightly higher alcohol proof.

    just great

Not sure what buddy with the 1-star rating is on about... I thought it was great. A bit of sweetness and spice, but nothing overpowering, and a wonderful finish. It's certainly not your traditional whisky, the icewine notes are very noticeable but I think it makes a great little treat. I would give 4 stars but giving 5 to help offset the ridiculous (and entirely unexplained) 1-star rating below

    The Worst

This was the worst tasting whiskey I have ever tried. I honestly believed that there wasn’t a bad tasting whiskey on the planet earth....I was wrong this is it. The guy who bought it was seriously thinking of returning it. Instead he’s using it to educate others of how bad of a whiskey it is. Point blank period.

    Marvelous

Smooth, with a pleasant sweetness which is tapered by a slight acidity. A very interesting whisky. Don't expect a peaty monster from this though.
