Master of Malt's #WhiskySanta has returned to give away free orders, £100 vouchers, tens of thousands of pressies inside packages, and to grant Christmas wishes too!
The sixth release from Glenmorangie's exceedingly popular Private Edition series, Tùsail is made with Maris Otter barley. Maris Otter was originally bred in 1965 to meet the need for a high quality brewing malt, though it eventually fell out of style, with higher-yielding varieties taking its place.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Glenmorangie make some fine fine whiskies, but this "limited" release is somewhat lacking in my opinion. Fair value at half the price.

Revision - Fortunate One
I was getting mixed signals, and after further review, it's creamy almond/marzipan I'm getting, in step with a coco nuttiness. Also, getting the whole Goëtzes(?) caramel creme. I should also apologize for using nearly the same description twice. Sláinte!

Fortunate One - Massachusetts
Just grabbed a bottle today at $99.95 in Lakeville, MA. I've long been a fan of Glenmorangie, with circa '99-'01 (?) Madeira Wood being an all-time favorite that I can only think longingly of, unfortunately. I've read and watched multiple reviews and have looked forward to trying this, but had little hope of finding a bottle locally, especially at a tick under $100. I was not disappointed in the slightest upon pouring a dram, even the first one. This is an absolutely stunning, belter of a whisky. I've got to grab another to hold onto for the future.
Nose: With a swirl of the glass, instantly got creamy coconut macaroon, Goëtz vanilla creme, sweet buttered brioche and aged rum notes.
Palate: Velvety malt, more coconut, but drier on the tongue with a softly tannic vanilla shortbread cookie.
Finish: Average Length with sour green coconut, malted milk balls, and a faint sweet barley sugar note.
Conclusion: With a few drops of water, I started to get citrus notes weaving in and out. Complex fruit and sweetly soft bakery treats. Just utterly and unapologetically unique. I'm tasting 20+ year old rum and brilliant small-batch bourbon. It's unapologetically different, and utterly sublime.

The best malt ever
This is one of the best whiskies Morangie has produce and leaves you in no doubt you are drinking malted whisky it's like drinking malt biscuits and having a bakery jump in your mouth at the end. I don't know what Glenmorangie has been cooking up or rather baking up but it's golden otter barley should be used from now on instead of quantity over quality in all of Scotland's great distillaries. This one is going to go down like the great Morangie ealanta did, so get one while you can.

Freshly baked Glenmorangie
A very elegant, fresh & barley rich offering that feels like freshly baked apricot custard Danish or homemade biscuits. Aromatic spices, sugared almonds, ripe melon, ginger powder, pink grapefruit with icing sugar all compete for your attention. This is a much fresher & juicer morangie with some lovely chewy malty nutty praline toffee on the moreish finish. The Whisky Flaneur
