Glenmorangie The Tayne

Glenmorangie The Tayne Bottling Note

Released at the start of 2016 for the Travel Retail market, The Tayne from Glenmorangie has been finished in selected Amontillado Sherry casks!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Almonds and walnuts, covered in caramel and brown sugar. A little hint of ground clove brings spiciness.

Palate: Orange oil starts off the palate, before giving way to brown sugar and more mixed nuts.

Finish: Quite long and spicy.

Reviews for Glenmorangie The Tayne
Spicy, Unpalatable, overall a disappointment
Disappointed by spicy finish. This is not nearly as rewarding to taste as the original. I had four drinks to ensure I get it right. My first bottle was 5 years back. I thought my taste buds may have changed but I still find it very influenced by an irksome spicy phenomenon. A fail. Leaving 3 stars because..

Reasonable whisky !! Good for social drinking and begeners of Single malts !!
An above average whisky, dark colour which denote Sherry casks are not too withered, with sweet smell obviously, fruity with more like over ripe fruits, tastes a LTTLE over sweet, especially if you are a straight Single malt drinker !! I l liked the strong woody after taste, however the finish is short !! New single malt Sherry drinkers would like it. Cheers !!

Not good
Too strong and a dash of water is needed, it might help. Still bad. Finish is quite long, but dry and woody. Glenmorangie original is better. (R)

Superb for the price point
As above, but the development is rapid. Although you don't mention it i believe that I detect dark cherry as the brown sugar evolves.

Excellent
Fantastic! I was part of a cabal of 5 retired Cdn army pipers around a campfire in Ontario cottage country recently and we thoroughly enjoyed this fine scotch over the course of 5 hours and many war stories. This was about the smoothest Glenmorangie I have ever tasted.

Glenmmorangie never disappoints me. Thanks...
Very agreeable to my taste. An initial slightly harsh bite which in seconds changes into a sweetish mellow aftertaste. Will buy again.

Boring
Dissapointing. Probably the poorest expression in the Glenmoriangie range.
There is no richness to it, no depth and really no taste.
You are better of buying a blend, say Bushmills Black bush, than this.
