Glenmorangie The Tayne

Glenmorangie The Tayne Bottling Note

Released at the start of 2016 for the Travel Retail market, The Tayne from Glenmorangie has been finished in selected Amontillado Sherry casks!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Almonds and walnuts, covered in caramel and brown sugar. A little hint of ground clove brings spiciness.

Palate: Orange oil starts off the palate, before giving way to brown sugar and more mixed nuts.

Finish: Quite long and spicy.

Glenmorangie The Tayne Reviews

Wonderful whisky

Being ex royal fleet auxiliary I always drank Gin (Pink) I recently started to drink whisky, I was given a bottle of Glenmorangie which I found excellent, however I was recently on a cruise and was offered a discount on a bottle of Glenmorangie THE TAYNE, this is undoubtedly th finest drink I have ever tried, it is expensive but I do make it last

Sound, slightly innovative

Lifted spirit on the nose with distinct Amontillado notes - Lasanta has similarly recognisable Oloroso. Not as fine as others in the Glenmorangie stable. The palate is medium and, again, slightly spiritous. Not overly long or complex. In truth, I find the 'standard' 10 year old more interesting

Very nice

Absolutely worth the buy. A little spicy but smooth. Nice finish.

Excellent.

Loved it, sad it's all gone now.

A brilliant whisky

Bought a one L bottles at Changi for $69. A fabulous deal for an excellent LVMH Glenmorangie. After being disappointed with the underdone Lasanta and Quinta Ruban, which sear the throat with raw honey, the Nectar D'Or was a pleasant change. Even so, the Tayne is streets ahead.

Superb

Great single malt but no age mentioned.

spicey

A very fine whisky. If you like a touch of spice to your scotch, this is one to get.

Mediocre

Somewhat underwhelming in my opinion. Rather one dimensional and somewhat harsh. It has some interesting notes of caramel but it does slap you around the room, even with some water added.

Not a bad whisky but nothing to write home about.

Buy this whisky.

A fantastic whisky, one of Glenmorngie's finest. In this price bracket The Tayne represents outstanding value, I highly recommend it.

Great value, wonderful taste.

One of the most lovely whiskies I've had.

Great value at duty free.

Although I am usually suspicious of no age statement whiskies, Glenmorangie rarely disappoint. I have had everything in the Legends series and in the private collection series. The Tayne is a lovely sweet sherried whisky with a bit of bite, lots of orange and chocolate, nice (but light) spice notes.

Duty free at Heathrow T5 have 1 litre bottles at £59. You can often get 10% off if you spend £150.

My oh my!!

The Tayne would have to be one of the best Glenmorangie's I've ever had in the $100-$200 range

King of Malt or Queen of wet dreams.....

Just one word to say: Heavenly

My wife is calling

After a couple glasses of this Tayne, you get a little bit more hat wobble than expected. One more and you might be getting yourself into a little bit of NSFW Tayne ( not suitable for work )

my dad approves

This scotch really kicks up the 4d3d3d3. A few shots of this boy will generate a nude Tayne.

Worst of Morangie

I am big fan of Morangie. I have Signet and Duthac they are amazing. This time I wanted Quinta Ruban but a pushy salesman at duty free gave me this Tayne which has really put me to vast disappointment it has a bland taste no complex flavours nothing to discover once you take a sip, till the nose you may set some expectations but once in mouth it felt blank with just hint of spice.....

Glenmorangie The Tayne

Absolutely stunning... No words. Sherry bomb with chocolate hint and the walnut is a perfect addition to them.

Bland

Was going for the Glenlivet Nadurra sherry cask when duty free dude diverted me to this. Meh. I'm hoping to use this bottle to hide the Glen Garioch 1999 from the guests.

As with the Dornoch; a "Sense of Place"

Once again, Bill Lumsden and his team have created something special in honor of something special. This expression is very basic in terms of maturation and finishing but the result is a delicious spirit. Classic 'morangie with palate overtones of citrus and demerara sugar, and a mixture of hazelnuts, brazil nuts and walnuts mixed with creamy toffee/caramel on the finish. Very pleased this is bottled above 40%abv. Definitely worth a try.
