This 12 year old is Glenmorangie's Port cask finished expression, dubbed Quinta Ruban. To craft this single malt, the liquid spent 10 years maturing in American white oak casks, before being transferred into specially selected ruby Port pipes from the Quintas (wine estates) of Portugal in the Douro valley. Expect oodles of fruity notes in this wonderfully rounded and complex whisky.
Nose: Full of winter berries and a touch of port. A good oak and a little cereal hanging in the substratum.
Palate: Sweet and thick. The port note is chewy and rich with notes of barley sugar and cereal and lots of juicy fruit and berries, a tad cloying.
Finish: Long and fruity and quite sweet.

Love it. I also was a fan of the Portwood finish prior to this. The 14 is also good just not as "rich". Fan of all 3 though. Drink up lads.

I’ve never had a whisky that has changed so much (Ina good way) from first opening. I now absolutely do understand the hype. This stuff has gone from tasting very average shortly after opening to a beautiful, rich, multi-layered chocolate, manuka, orange and spice.

Bought this years ago and can't seem to find it anywhere without breaking the bank! My favourite scotch ever. The sweetness of the port is lovely.

The finest Port finished Scotch and one the best Glenmorangie has to offer. The previous "Chocolate-Orange" comment really sums it up.

Outstanding whisky, really smooth for 46%. The flavour seems to be richer than the new 14 year.

Picture this, Sunday dinner is finished, then a dark chocolate tort is brought out.A slice is cut & cream poured over it & handed to u. Next your asked would you like a drink.... Port, Commandaria, Madeira? Hell no, trust me ask for this!Water if u want but all I think it needs is time to breath.Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth. But trust me on the sunscreen.

The Quinta Ruban is the best tasting scotch that I have purchased and I have purchased it in 3 different locations in the St. Louis area as well as Arkansas and Springfield, Missouri. I have searched on line as well. I have not been successful. I sure hope you decide to ship more to the southwest Missouri area soon.
