This is the 12 year old, Sherry cask finished expression from Glenmorangie, dubbed The Lasanta. It first matures in bourbon casks before being moved over to Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks for a finishing period. Plenty rich and creamy with dark chocolate, dried fruit and fresh honey.

“I bought a bottle of this for the father in law for Xmas. I ordered a 3cl sample for myself. Hes always been a fan of Glenmorangie whereas I've only tried a few of theirs. This is lovely stuff. As soon as he opens it on Boxing Day Ill get the glasses from the cupboard for him. Its smooth, fudgey, toffee, chocolatey, creamy but I do love the sweeter sherry cask finishes. ”

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Plum and baking spice supported by milk chocolate raisin, caramel and toasty oak.

Palate

A dash of tart raspberry coulis leads into a generous helping of sherried dried fruit, with orange marmalade, toasted nuts and berry jam. Sweeter notes of brown sugar and cereal notes appear.

Finish

Silky and long, with oily orange peel, cinnamon and hazelnut praline, rounded off by bitter dark chocolate.

Light, fruity and overall lovely. Great whisky for a sunny Summer day. I chill mine in the bottle and have it neat in a light crystal glass. It opens up rather well as you it works its way back to the room temperature.

Am I the only one getting Strawberrys?

Am I the only one getting Strawberrys? This tastes as if flavouring has been added, rather than getting the sherry notes fron the 2nd casks. Orange peel and fairy liquid after taste.

Smooth with a nice finish. Give it a try

At first I thought it was drinkable, but unremarkable but it has grown on me since. The sherry comes through as a sweet aftertaste on the tongue and I appreciated the slightly oily texture. Not over sherried like say a Macallan, but the finish is impressive.

Feels like a warm blanket

The Lasanta 12 was a nice touch after the bloody marys while cooking Thanksgiving dinner and a nice sipping stomach settler after the big meal. Nice, smooth, and aromatic... wraps you up like a warm blanket!

Sweet and delicious!

This seems to get mixed reviews but I preferred it over many others in the Glenmorangie range. It's slightly different but full of sweet flavours and a decent price too.
