A Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice bottling of Glenlossie single malt, distilled in 2004 and bottled in 2016 at 46% ABV.
Fresh orange, toasted oak chips, ginger biscuits.
A touch of vegetal oak at first, before layers of vanilla, ripe banana and brown sugar.
Lingering orange and dried barley.
I haven't had a Glenlossie in my collection for years so I was looking forward to reacquainting myself with this dram. However, I was left slightly underwhelmed. It's very smooth and pleasant but, to be frank, there's nothing distinctive about it. There's nothing wrong with it and I'll enjoy each and every dram but I feel the label could be changed to any of a dozen Speyside distilleries and I wouldn't know the difference - it's just too generic. Given that, locally, I can buy Aberlour 12 for £25 and the very good Glenallachie DE NAS for £18 - 20, would I spend nearly £43 on this again? Doubtful.
