This thirty-eight year old Glenlivet was bottled in 2012 without chill filtration by Berry Brothers and Rudd of St James' London.
The aroma is heathery with fruit punch, orange segment and boiled sweet notes.
This Glenlivet is incredibly smooth with vanilla, rum and intense orange flavours.
The finish is reminiscent of orange bitters with a dusting of spice.
This excellent Glenlivet is immensely drinkable with beautiful orange aromas and flavours.
After having spent the evening with this Scotch, I found it to be quite delicate in its flavoring. Initially I found the alcohol level too strong for my palate (47.6%), but as the ice melted, I was able to experience its flavoring more completely. A lot of high notes in this, not as many deep tones as I expected given its age in the barrel. A very clean finish with, as mentioned, lots of citrus and vanilla. -ATS
My wife gave me this bottle for my 40th birthday. (I was born in 1973, hence the special significance of this bottle). Just opened it. The air in the bottle immediately fogged, and a wonderful fine scotch aroma wafted out. I need a little more time with this one, so I'll post a follow-up review when I've figured it out. - ATS
