12-year-old Kilkerran single malt from Campbeltown's Glengyle Distillery, which reopened back in 2004. The Kilkerran 12 Year Old is lightly peated and non-chill filtered, and has been matured in a classic combination of bourbon casks sherry casks.
Oak notes are dominant, followed by toasted marshmallows and dried fruit pudding, as well as cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat.
Initially fruity with citrus notes and orange peel, after this: vanilla, butterscotch, honeycomb and digestive biscuits can all be tasted and enjoyed.
Velvet and smooth with lemon meringue, to conclude, there’s an oiliness and a saltiness that you’d expect from a Campbeltown dram.

Delicious amber liquid. Peatier than expected and worth the wait. Onto my second bottle and there will be more, roll on the distillery visit in November!
For a 12 year old this whisky brings all together that makes a great dram: perfectly balanced and surprisingly grown up for that age - at this price definitely a must have
My expectations were high having recently bought the WIP 7 bourbon cask strength. The 12 year old did not disappoint. Delightful stuff. Lovely and bright with notes of charcoal, vanilla, juicy fruit and of course the briny character you expect with a Campbeltown. Aside from it being a great dram, further points must be awarded for transparency - non-chill filtered and natural colour. Price point is absolute superb. Overall it just represents unreal value. If you enjoyed the WIP range you really can't go wrong. This is more refined and sure of itself.
Amazing whisky. Fat but elegant, the peat level is perfect, the saltiness is delightful. Zesty. Really cheap for what's in the bottle.
Amazing at this price point. A really beautiful craft whisky, and great to see Campbeltown prospering yet further.
