    Glengoyne Cask Strength

Each batch of Glengoyne's marvellous Cask Strength single malt is matured in a selection of refill, oloroso sherry, and bourbon casks, and bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration. It's brimming with generous layers of cakey spice, nutty malt, honeyed fruit, and oaken vanilla.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Soft stone fruits and baked apples with a dusting of nutmeg are joined by creamy vanilla custard and Malted Milk biscuits.

    Palate

Rounded layers of runny, buttery toffee, and hints of citrus zest open the way for syrupy, fruit-studded flapjack and banana bread.

    Finish

Mellow oak and biscuity barley linger, with juicy stone fruits, tangy citrus, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

    Stunning, well priced cask strength

Needs a good drop of water to really get those flavours. It’s smooth, creamy, like the 18. I get the popcorn on the nose, the pallet builds up with spices onto the finish, which can be overwhelming. Half a star off only because I’ve found it difficult to nail the water input. 80/20 I’ve found works best for me.

    lovely full bodied dram

A hefty 59.2% but no harshness . In fact i like it neat . Intense , full bodied and flavoursome.

A well rounded introduction to cask strength whisky.

A well rounded introduction to cask strength whisky, this expression is ideal to progress a new whisky enthusiast from the usual 40-46% abv bottlings. Perfect for a cold winters evening, I agree with the tasting notes from MoM and would choose this bottle for a dram or six with my Apple crumble on a Sunday evening, although it wouldn’t be long until I moved to a bottle with a little more depth.
