Glengoyne
Scotland
Single Malt
Introduced in early 2014, this is a 25 year old single malt from the Glengoyne distillery - an addition to their core range. The Highlands distillery uses unpeated malt for this whisky, which is then matured for a quarter of a century in Sherry casks.
Big notes of sherry-soaked fruit up front - raisins, figs and oranges. This is followed by wafts of toasted almonds and classic notes of old leather.
Vanilla and dark chocolate open up the palate. Sherry comes through yet again, but this time in the shape of rich, well spiced fruit cake. Hints of orange and oak round it off.
The finish lasts with notes of red fruits and cracked black pepper.
A very easy dram to get lost in, to take your time with on every step.

Tried a sample and considering the price, found this to be quite disappointing. It was pleasant enough, although lacked depth and was a bit flat. The palate was not in the same league as A'bundh. Glad I didn't shell out 250 quid for a bottle. Would not rule out a bad sample, considering some of the other reviews.
Great stuff. My go to with friends and family after a nice Thanksgiving Turkey or a Christmas goose. Could drink this year round but I prefer bourbon in the summer out here in Arizona.
flipping gorgeous stuff. Have 21 year old and cask strength and both are great but this is just fab. Bought for 25th wedding anniversary and tried sample first. can't wait to drink more of it when the anniversary comes around.
For the price this whisky is my favorite. In fact, if you double the price its still my favorite!
Just received the 25 year old. I originally purchased the 21 but changed my mind before it shipped figuring I won't miss the money after a week or so. Let me say...the 25 is the best I have ever had. Smooth, rich, flavorful, well made....just perfect. It is a stunner at the price and I would say actually inexpensive. I love Macallan 25 but that is over $1700 while this is less than $300. This whiskey holds its own against the big boys and frankly, is better in many respects in my opinion. Well done Glengoyne!
