This expression from independent bottler Cadenhead’s Small Batch Series is as beguiling as it is delicious. The whisky making up this Glengoyne single malt came from two hogsheads: one that had previously held bourbon, and another from a renowned French wine estate. With just 510 bottles released, this is an unusual bottling to snap up.
Unctuous maple syrup and red fruits lifted by more tropical fruits and a vanilla spice. Some menthol sneaks in, too.
Super honeyed, loads of vanilla, a nice balance of oak, with stewed orchard fruits, dark chocolate and a wine tannin-like mouthfeel.
More spicy here, along with those tannins and a touch of leather. Intriguing.
