Description

Glengoyne single malt in double decade glory here, distilled in 1999 and filled into a single sherry hogshead to mature. The cask was opened in 2019, and now, 130 bottles of its precious contents join our very own collection of exclusive Master of Malt bottlings.

Nose

Drying oak and cooking spices lead to sweeter notes of chocolate raisins, roasted walnuts, and treacle toffee. A touch of blackcurrant, and earthy vanilla develops in time.

Palate

Rich layers of orange marmalade, black cherries, and dark chocolate, with warming candied ginger. Waxy honeycomb and floral malt lead to a flash of fiery chilli spice, softened by drizzles of thick caramel.

Finish

Dense old oak lingers alongside dried apricot, and poached stone fruits wrapped in pastry and dusted with spice.

Really surprised me

This whisky was a delight. I won it in a Master of Malt competition and hadn't encountered Glengoyne before so I was not sure what to expect. It was an utter delight!
