“I have tried the 18 and the 10 year old but found this to be more distinctive. It is lovely neat. Even better with oatcakes and cheese. Well that is my preference. Def in my top 10”

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Toffee apples, a little acacia honey, nectarine in syrup and spice, supported by toasted barley in the background.

Palate

Over-ripe grapes, honeyed with hints of vanilla, coconut milk and oak spice. Light touches of chocolate ice-cream.

Finish

Long, oily finish with lingering coffee notes.

Favourite dram

First tried this at the distillary in 2015. Surprised to find that I prefered the 12YO over the 18YO. Very difficult to find where I live (even finding the 10YO is a rarity). My favourite dram!

nice sherried whisky and fairly smooth

Very decent dram the 12. nice sherried whisky and fairly smooth up front.. has a long finish with pepper and an oily mouthfeel. this is quite rich as well. first tried this on a tour and i have to say all their efforts were very good, the older needless to say were better. struth

12yr old glengoyne

It’s all subjective. I find 10yr a bit light and the 18yr too harsh. I love the 12yr old. Been on the distillery tour too. What a place! Awesome!! I was always an advocate of the Peaty islay whisky this 12yr old Glengoyne has converted me. Give it a try

Not bad

Personally I prefer the 10 year old better than this. Felt it was harsh and the taste just wasn't as good. But thats my opinion. Its still a nice whiskey with flavour but I don't think il be buying a bottle anytime soon because feel the 10 is better value.

Absolutely fabulous in every way!!

Glengoyne 12 year old is just the best whisky I've ever tasted. I agree with the 'Chaps at Master of Malt' on their tasting note, but I especially like the very different after effect of my wee dram. It raises my spirits in a way that no other alcoholic drink does. I absolutely love it. Good job I'm not rich enough to drink too much of it. It's certainly one to have in the cupboard for those days when spirits need to be raised.
