    Single Malt

    Glenglassaugh Torfa

We've seen the Revival and the Evolution, and now Glenglassaugh are adding a peated expression to their range. The Torfa (which refers to the Old Norse word for turf or peat) has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels and weighs in at 20 PPM. We love to see that Glenglassaugh is back up and running again after being closed for over 20 years, and they've even got enough momentum to try new things, as this is their first peated single malt Scotch whisky!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Smoke and citrus in equal measures, with sweet spice happily sitting between the two.

    Palate

Not overtly smoky. It's definitely got its coastal elements, but the fruity notes of melon, apple and yet more citrus make it a rather sweet dram, balanced by warming barley.

    Finish

    Smoke lasts to the end.

    Overall

A good introduction to peated whisky for those looking to get a taste of smoky goodness.

    Try It!

Cannot add or improve on what others have said. Love Islay malts, this is lighter and a great alternative.

Delicious break from firm for a highland whisky.

I took a flyer. Was going to buy ANOTHER bottle of lagavulin. But I have 4 or 5 nice islays currently and wanted something I haven't tried. I loved it. It's got smoke.. sweetness.. some peat . I honestly think it's my best find this year

    Fantastic dram.

Had it with Steward Buchanan their ambassador along with Glendronach 12, 21, Benriach and Octave. This is my pick. Despite of 50%abv neat, no heat at all. Balance and Steward explained the difference btwn Islay peat n the Speyside peat which is a thousand years old. The peat characteristic is so fascinating. I swear I detected charred bacon and cured ham, very gentle. Simply delicious!

    You will not be disappointed

I love the typical Islay peat, and this isn’t it - but it is equally enjoyable and impressive. It doesn’t have the iodine profile but rather a citrusy light peat at what I feel is a perfect ABV. It has a nice long finish. Very impressive peated expression for a revived distillery. It is definitely worth a try at its price point
