This thirty-nine year old Glenglassaugh has been finished in Muscat sweet wine barrels to lend it a rich chocolate and berry notes.

Tasting Note by The Producer

Nose

Rich grapey aromas, limes and chocolate with berries, charred oak and liquorice.

Palate

Medium body, sweet berries, limes, sultana and chocolate to the fore followed by traces of treacle and oak.

Finish

Smooth, with dark berries and spicy citrus.

Sweet Wine, Toffee, and Wood

Nose: citrus, muscato sweet wine. Taste: butter toffee, oak Finish: citrus tang, dry wood. Im supposed to have been able to taste chocolate and berries in this one but did not. I love the sweet wine hints throughout though.

How long has the whisky been finished in the Muscat casks? There are whiskies that have been "finished" for only a few months and others that have spent more than half their life "finishing"(e.g. the Linkwood 26 year old releases from 2008).
