Glenglassaugh Portsoy

After two decades of silence, the Glenglassaugh distillery reawoke in 2008, and now it's time to discover a brand new single malt, produced under the expert direction of master blender Rachel Barrie. Portsoy is a richly peated single malt, named after the coastal distillery's neighbouring harbour village. Matured in a selection of sherry, bourbon, and Port casks, it boasts a satisfyingly smoky, maritime character with waves of tropical fruit, salted liquorice, sticky soy, and chocolate.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Waves of coastal character with sweet layers of tropical fruit and herbaceous peat, toffee, milk chocolate, and sweet soy sauce.

Palate Chocolatey malt supports grilled pineapple and treacle toffee, while that sticky soy and smoky peat tangle beneath.

Finish Maritime peat smoke drifts softly alongside peppery oak, stewed berries, charred tropical fruits, and rich oak. Seaweed, salted liquorice, and dark chocolate-coated salted almonds linger.

Reviews for Glenglassaugh Portsoy
Below expectation
Decent dram but would've expected a bit more complexity and quality, considering a long awaited relaunch. Comes with a steep price tag too.

Very nice.
I bought this because my new neighbour is from Portsoy, so I thought I would offer him a wee dram. Unfortunately for him, it was so nice he never even got a sniff. I almost feel guilty! 🤭

Very nice
No expert here, and normally hesitant buying “peaty” bottles, as described, however I found this to be lovely, nice amount of smokiness. Will be getting another!
Brought to this from enjoying Glendronach.
