Glenfiddich
Scotland
Single Malt
Part of Glenfiddich's Experimental Series comes a single malt which was finished for three months in casks which previously held IPA! Created collaboratively by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman and IPA expert Seb Jones, the IPA which was in the casks before the whisky was specially brewed for this expression by the Speyside Craft Brewery. Bound to be a fascinating whisky for whisky and beer enthusiasts alike (and the cross-over of that Venn diagram, too).
Honey'd malt, jam tart (the kind with marmalade, specifically), pear drops.
Treacle and sponge cake. Spicy hop notes begin to take shape, followed by hints of bitter citrus peel.
Light oak, melted butter and coffee bean.
Granny smith is the first thing i seem to smell on this. pleasant aroma's, powerfull aroma's too. very enjoyable. i seem to recognize challanger hops. both citrussy and floral aroma's seem to walk hand in hand with lots of wood. i like it a lot.
One of the few whiskies I enjoy without a touch of water, this is a superb dram and far too easy drinking. This will be a classic and if the rest of the experimental series is as good as this one, then we are in for a treat. Buy two, one for drinking (you have to taste how good it is!) and one for keeping, I believe it'll be a firm favourite of collectors in no time.
I found this so suprising and so delicious it was amazing. It was fresh, fruity and full of citrus with a nice small touch of hops right at the end.
