Glenfiddich
Scotland
Single Malt
Part of Glenfiddich's Experimental Series comes a single malt which was finished for three months in casks which previously held IPA! Created collaboratively by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman and IPA expert Seb Jones, the IPA which was in the casks before the whisky was specially brewed for this expression by the Speyside Craft Brewery. Bound to be a fascinating whisky for whisky and beer enthusiasts alike (and the cross-over of that Venn diagram, too).
Honey'd malt, jam tart (the kind with marmalade, specifically), pear drops.
Treacle and sponge cake. Spicy hop notes begin to take shape, followed by hints of bitter citrus peel.
Light oak, melted butter and coffee bean.
Definitely not one I will drink again
What does it do to justify the price? Is this a 3 year old whisky that's been in an IPA cask for 3 months? I'm not seeing the attraction.
I don't often drink beer, but when I do, I reach for an IPA. I bought this based on my love for both scotch and IPAs. It did not disappoint... Apples, citrus and Hops and very smooth. Not sure I will be sharing this one. Hops lovers need to try this one.
So I am from California and our beer of choice is the IPA and we brew some of the best and hoppiest in the world so when I first tried this had a hard time picking up the hop notes but after sitting around for a bit and giving this another chance I can definitely taste some nice zesty hops with citrus and slightly tart green apple. Has the drying effect of hops as well. This is very interesting stuff probably won't buy again due to the price but it was certainly worth trying once. The sugarbear
I tried this tonight at a friend's party - smooth, easy, great taste - just loved it. Will be in my collection for sure. Dr. Peter
