Glenfiddich Excellence 26

The first whisky of this age released by the Glenfiddich distillery, Excellence 26 Year Old is a very special release that was matured exclusively in American oak bourbon barrels for notes of vanilla and spice alongside classic Glenfiddich notes and a vein of oak running right through the middle.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Very fruit driven nose. Green fruits with touches of passion fruit backed up with very well judged vanilla. There are floral overtones – jasmine?

Palate Soft and plush on the palate. Liquorice, vanilla, toffee with cooked spices –nutmeg and cinnamon. Soft old leather and charred pineapple.

Finish Medium to long. Pleasing warmth with some spice from the tannins.

Not great
I had a good few dram’s a of this whisky as my dad had bought a bottle. Over priced and not as good many other whiskys on the market of this age Glendronnach being one of them. If you put this next to a far cheaper and younger whisky I think many would not be able to tell the difference. At first I thought my dad had swapped it out for a cheaper bottle to test me, he hadn’t!

Just perfect
Remortgaged my house and purchased two bottles,it is slightly sweet but beautifully balanced with a typical Glenfiddich smooth finish,very recommended

This is really a magnificent whisky!
With it's wonderful apple, almost calvdos-like, nose, it's truely a good one.

Good, but...
While I'm not a huge fan of Glenfiddich (I find them too sweet) this is none the less a nice whiskey.
The price however is quite prohibitive, there are a lot of whiskey, in my opinion, that are much better, at a fifth of the price of this one.

It's more expensive than the 30 yr 'cause they really needed money for the nice packaging. Pretty good idea to sell youngest for a double price and even do not wait for a 4 years extra.
