Glenfarclas 12yo 1l Bottling Note

Delicious single malt from Speyside's Glenfarclas distillery, aged for a dozen years before making its way into the bottles. Dig in to rich Sherried malt and earthy allspice notes.

This is a 1 litre bottling.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Light and creamy with a mix of supple, soft sherry and Manuka honey. Gentle and well-balanced, there are hints of smoke, rich oak, and a little pine resin.

Palate: Medium-bodied, with notes of date and walnut cake, Oloroso sherry and hints of earthy forest floor. A beautiful note of malt, with toffee apple and a touch of smoke.

Finish: Spicy and long, notes of allspice, cinnamon and cloves, with orange zest and sherry.

Glenfarclas 12 Year Old 1l Reviews

Simple pleasure.

Can you say this is a deep single malt...depth of flavor is a better description. Agree with oak and pine.

A bargain

Good, smooth whisky with some sherry in it for an affordable price. The thrill is the price. Less than 38 dollar for 1 litre of 12 year old Highland whisky is a bargain where i live. But the 15 is a lot better if you can afford it.

You get more sherry with Glendronach 12 but about the same overall quality as with this one.

First Glenfarclas, it’s really good!

Bought a liter of this last week and just cracked it open.
On the nose was sherry and oak.
The palate revealed burnt toffee, chocolate, citrus zest, and that oak.
Long, malty finish, with oak and toffee.
After water, there was turpentine on the nose (the Chaps above said “pine resin”, so maybe that’s what I was detecting ?), and stewed prunes.
This is a very good quality, and affordable daily dram whisky!

Close, but not quite a cigar!

Clearly the previous review drank the full bottle before writing his or her review!

I've just bought a standard 75cl bottle from M&S for £26 which is an utter bargain! (sorry MoM)
Smooth nose, gentle initially on the palate, reasonably full mouthfeel as the fruitcake and mince pies cut through. I was however expecting a bit more and I don't rate it as high as Jim Murray, it's not a patch on A'bunadh but then that's a different proposition. It's definitely preferable to Balvenie double wood, it's smoother and more complex, but yet to compare to Glendronach (that's for next week!). Ultimately, it's just a bit too smooth for my tastes, I like a bit more fire to play with!
