A great whisky from Glenfarclas's Family Cask range. This 1993 vintage has a lot of typical distillery characteristics, picked up from maturation in a sherry cask, and definitely benefits from the adddition of water.
Powerful rich nose of almonds and rich fruit cake.
Flavours of sherry-soaked fruit. Some light tannins are apparent here but this is a very fresh whisky; a lovely mix of sherry and Spanish oak.
The finish is long and sweet. A little water slows it down further, leaving lots of chocolate.
