The sixth release of Glenfarclas's 1968 Family Cask was aged in a sherry cask for over 40 years before bottling in 2010 at natural cask strength. A rich, intense whisky with a lot of flavour and complexity.
Nose: Dark notes of sherry and malt, toffee apples, stewed fruit and prune, some black pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Palate: Malty and intense, almost chocolatey with thick notes of espresso bean, calves leather and allspice, hints of smoked prune juice (such a think does exist!) and manuka honey.
Finish: Good length with toffee and various "dark" fruits on the tail.
