The third release of Glenfarclas' 1952 Family Cask. George S Grant comments on how fresh this whisky has remained, despite having spent 55 years in a single hogshead! A delicious whisky offering up all sorts of chocolate and orange notes!
Almond and walnut on the nose, with hints of apple crumble, vanilla, oak and stewed fruits. A dash of cocoa, black pepper and freshly roasted coffee beans, alongside just a smidgen of gentle smoke, some orange zest, Angostura bitters and elderflower.
Thick, creamy and nutty with notes of clove-studded oranges, grilled grapefruit and chocolate malt. A touch of oily, fresh espresso, sherried peels and date & walnut cake.
Excellent length, with fruit, spices and malt.
