Lots of sherry and fruit in this, Glenfarclas 12 was originally bottled for export and travel retail markets. In 2006, it was named the "Best Sherried Whisky" in the Single Malt World Cup, and in 2007 and 2008 it won Gold at the Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival.
Light and creamy with a mix of supple, soft sherry and Manuka honey. Gentle and well-balanced, there are hints of smoke, rich oak, and a little pine resin.
Medium-bodied, with notes of date and walnut cake, Oloroso sherry and hints of earthy forest floor. A beautiful note of malt, with toffee apple and a touch of smoke.
Spicy and long, notes of allspice, cinnamon and cloves, with orange zest and sherry.

This is a classy malt..very high quality feel and finish to it. Nose is sweet and honeyed smoke and oak there in the back ground Taste sherry evident good malt bit of warmth that hits the throat tad drying the honey and vanilla come through with sharper apple type taste and a hint of smoke, Finish sherry and spicy with good length than lingers. All in all a top spay side dram great example of its type.. Can't speak highly enough very good stuff. Hopefully the 40 year old will take it up several notches.. Only 7 weeks til Xmas.. But 12 can be hard to find waitrosse (order job) or online best bet to find it..
I definitely prefer sherry and port finished whisky and this is a great example, ranks alongside my favourite Glenmorangie Quintan Ruban and Macallan.
Nose: Sherry. Grape and butterscotch. Dried fruits and a little spice. However there is also a tiny hint of match, which tells of sulphur from the sherrycasks. It doesn’t ruin the nose completely though. Taste: The sherry maturation this is evident. Dried fruits and sweetness, vanilla and honey. Spicy notes hits you in the finish.
Nose- light and well-balanced Palate - mixture of spice and sweetness of a walnut cake. Finish - long, little fruity, spicy, and touch of sherry. This is good stuff, yet have to explore other single malt whiskeys.
I love the Glenfarclas twelve year old. Unctuous is the word I believe...
