Glendronach finished in premier cru Sauternes casks, released in 2010.
Big fruity notes of rhubarb, strawberry, lemon meringue pie and whipped cream.
The cream becomes custard with the citrus zing of sweet wine slicing through followed by red apples and sultanas.
Sweet but refreshing thanks to a final burst of fruit.
The sweet wine finish really changes the character of Glendronch gone is the chocolate and here arives the fruit. An extraordinarily refreshing Glendronach.
When I first saw that this was aged in wine casks, alarm bells rang. However, one sip and I was forcing it upon my mate, who had similar sentiments. A rare treat and all too difficult to find.
