GlenDronach
Scotland
Single Malt
This Highland single malt has been matured in oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for big helpings of dried fruit character and sweet spice. Bottled naturally coloured, non-chill filtered, and at a robust cask strength ABV, a drop of water wouldn't go amiss here. A great whisky to cosy up with next to the fireplace, this one.
Dark gingerbread, with candied orange peel, dried raisins, and a touch of toasted almonds.
Rich fruitcake, cocoa nibs, dried currants, clove, cinnamon, and some dark muscovado sugar.
Warm winter spices build, with almond nougat.
Lovely dram, if you are a fan of sherry finish whisky then you wont go wrong here. I love it.
Super sweet
Instantly it's become one of my all time favourites. How can this strength be this smooth. As soon soon I opened the bottle I knew this would be good. Ginger toffee and vanilla for me, the nose reminds me of the woody barrel smells when you have a Distillery tour. Just a tiny sip and you mouth is coated with molasses, walnuts and a warm glow that lingers into spicy, zesty, woody finish and tingling lips. It's so rich and no real bur, even my 18 year old son likes this and he's no fan of whisky at cask strength neat.
I don't think Glendronach could make a bad dram if they wanted to right now. We will see how they do under the new management. Keith-YouTube-The Malted Man Cave
