The GlenDronach #8

This wonderfully sherried Highlander is the eighth batch of the Cask Strength series from the GlenDronach Distillery! It's been matured in Spanish oak Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, before it was bottled at a warming 61% ABV. Very chocolatey, jammy stuff, great for an evening sipper.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Earthy oak and vanilla pod, with sandalwood, mocha and golden syrup.

Palate Dusty cocoa, dates and cherry jam, with a drizzle of caramel and praline.

Finish Fresh espresso, with gooey chocolate pudding and cigar box.

Reviews for The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 8
Sherry explosion
My favorite sherry from now. Very rich and intense, contains virtually everything a whisky of this kind is expected to offer. Full satisfaction even in small amounts.

A beast in beast's clothing
A beast in beast's clothing.. European oak and sherry in command here and needs lots of water.. Very nice when tamed a bit but be wary of this... possibly the pepperiest whisky ive ever tasted.. youngish too but lots of sherry, wood, and a bit of bitter chocolate; maybe cherries too...

Great stuff. I want more...
I rarely write a whiskey review. But this arrived today and I was beside myself with excitement (I am with every new bottle that arrives) and this did not disappoint. No diluting for me. Into a glass down the hatch, slowly, cautiously, lovingly...

It made me smile. Cracking!

Christmas came early...
I have been with this bottle for about a week now, its seriously good... Give time to open up in the glass - 15 minutes or so... With or without water its a very easy dram to drink and the high ABV integrates very well, balance between cask and spirit is proper, viscous, sticky, really nice mouth fill. I have not tried the previous batch releases but will have to look them up now. Its a recommended buy.
