This is a superb single cask Glendronach, distilled in 1989 before a maturation in a Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheon. It was bottled after 22 years and offers an incredible flavour.
Hugely fruity nose - just a glorious mix of sweet prunes and Corinth raisins, hints of cocoa butter and creamy praline.
Rich, syrupy delivery, offering up toasted hazelnut and baking spices. Notes, too, of Black Forest honey and muscovado sugar, with plenty of juicy sultanas and peppercorns.
Honeyed, spicy finish. Juicy and fruity.
I went to my local liquor store, Ledgers, that specializes in whiskies, I really enjoyed the Edradour Barolo Cask. I wanted something special for a friends birthday. Wow did Ed know what he was talking about. I think there's a hint of smoke that I really enjoy along with such a fruity sweet. This is a real stand out for me, but best for around the Holidays.
