A fascinating 13 year old Irish single malt which has enjoyed a finishing period in Mizunara oak casks! The whiskey was matured in bourbon barrels before being filled into casks made with Mizunara from Japan! Stunning stuff from the Glendalough range.
Vanilla ice cream dotted with toffee chunks, orange oil, a touch of pine resin, maybe even a waft of toasted almond.
Definitely quite nutty - pecan, almond again and chocolate-coated Brazil nuts. Subtly floral at points.
Notes of coffee bean and honey go on and on.

I'm in love with it. Upon opening it was closed and incredibly boring, it took about took 2 weeks from opening to properly express itself. A whisky that needs a good amount of air and it becomes complex, smooth and utterly delicious.
Absolutely magical. I tried this at the HK Intl Whisky Expo and if I was the judge, it would have taken out BEST IN SHOW. The velvet like texture from Irelands triple distillation process is there, but the incredible honey and toffee flavours with smatterings of caramel just take your palate into another dimension. I am kicking myself for not buying two bottles at the show special (RRP is about $HK1100) Please add this to your 'special occassions' whisky collection. The day you crack it will be truly special.
