Single Malt
A 10 year old from Glenburgie, matured in refill sherry hogsheads and first fill sherry butts.
The nose is quite full and rich with notes of sherried sultanas and dried mixed peel. Notes of oak with chewy tannins and a slightly phenolic, sulphury note of bitumen. The palate is quite sweet with winter berries and mixed fruit and nuts, with a little malt loaf thrown in for good measure. The finish is gentle and supple with a little toasted malt loaf.
Very nice dram. Easy drinking and goes down too easy.
I purchased this product a few months ago on discount and never tried it. What a mistake. It is such a nice, refreshing dram. Light, floral, sweet and refreshing. I wish i would have given it a chance sooner.
Its a very gentle malt, but also nice for the connoisseur, for the cherry & candy type and the price I give it 9.
Nose: Malty, cereal, warm apple pie. Palate: Sweet entry of baklava, oatmeal with a little brown sugar, lemon zest. Finish: Drying oranges and crisp red grapes, which hint at the use of sherry casks. Well done! Great starting place for the novice whisky drinker exploring single malts and seeking an approachable and gentle malt.
My partner asked the the owner of Luvians in Cupar Fife which malt she should get me for a gift. He asked what I liked, she told him what my usual Speyside malt was. He suggested if he likes that he should try Glenburgie. I'm so glad she did, I find the sherry with a soft caramel after taste both smooth and sweet.
