Glenallachie 8 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish (Darkness)

From the Darkness indie bottling range comes an 8 year old single malt distilled by Glenallachie, which has been allowed a finishing period in an Oloroso sherry octave cask. The Darkness series is all about showing off the glory of sherried whisky, and this one is most certainly glorious indeed. Plenty of sherried notes coming through, imparted by the tiny, specially-coopered Oloroso octave cask.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Cinnamon sticks, red apples and a good helping of sultanas. Malty notes stick around in the background.

    Palate

Ripe orchard fruits, red grapes and a soft hint of clove. Orange zestiness begins to develop on the mid-palate, mellowed slightly by cakey vanilla.

    Finish

Stewed plum and fresh orange once again.
