GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Port Wood Finish

In mid-2019, the GlenAllachie Distillery launched a trio of single malts, each one having enjoyed a different cask finish. For the 10 year old expression, the whisky was firstly aged in American oak barrels, then moved over to Port pipes for its remaining maturation. Look out for an inviting ruby hue and chocolate, fruity notes on the palate with this one.

lovely summer fruit tones. Soft, subtle and packed with flavour! Already bought another.

OK but held back by youth and spices

Tried at a tasting event - this is a decent whisky but tastes too young in my opinion. There is a harshness and a spiciness to it which takes away from it's potential as, before they hit, the flavours are really nice and you can really get those port characteristics. The spiciness and youthfulness makes this a miss for me though. At the tasting it was suggested we mix this expression with GlenAllachie's 12 yr Pedro Ximenez - and we did - and it was really, really good. Not an option for a lot of people I know but combined they were excellent - the spiciness was toned down completely, the youthfulness had gone, and the complexity of both the whiskies, when blended, just amped up. If they made an expression with these two combined I'd definitely be in for a bottle.

    A Wee Cracker

Absolutely delicious, a joy to drink near, with a drop or with a bit of water. Just finished the bottle in a weekend, off for another
