Glen Scotia
Scotland
Single Malt
A very interestingly packaged whisky, this Glen Scotia comes with a ferocious-looking highland cow on the bottle, with the Northern Lights shimmering in the sky behind. It was aged for 21 years and bottled without added colour or chill filtration.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Ground mixed nuts and spice. Hints of citrus rind and toffee.
Treacle and hints of gingernut biscuits. Tropical fruit and a malt.
Creamy, sweet finish with manuka honey and toasted pecans.

I hate the lurid red bottle that conceals the gorgeous golden nectar within and though I am a lover of Cambletown whiskies, it put me off for a long time. I finally gave in and bought the 12 and the 21. The 12 is immediately satisfying and reminds me of my first taste of whisky as a kid. The 21 is deeper, more complex and ultimately more gratifying (as it should be given the price). 46% is in my opinion the perfect strength for most whiskies. The mouth feel is perfect. It is warming without being harsh. The nose contains strong citrus, dried fruits, winter spice and peaches. The palate is spicy and fresh with chewy malt and strong citrus again but giving way to a light tarriness and hints of old rope with a tang of rockpool. The finish is long and smooth with a light pepperiness dying away to sweet malt.
