Glen Scotia 18 Year Old Bottling Note

Initially aged in American oak casks and treated to a finishing period in Oloroso sherry casks, this is a delicious 18 year old single malt from the Glen Scotia Distillery in Campbeltown. Shows off a good balance between fruity sweetness and classic Campbeltown salinity. Lovely golden presentation box to match the whisky's handsome golden hue, too. That's style.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Honey, vanilla, sultanas drizzled with old rum, wafts of sea breeze and a touch of cherry.

Palate: Citrus peels (both orange and lemon) lead into more dried fruit sweetness. Salted caramel, mature oak and some black tea richness.

Finish: Ginger, milk chocolate, oatcakes and raisin.

Glen Scotia 18 Year Old Reviews

Not sure why this gets a bad wrap

I found this really enjoyable, the salted caramel really comes through and was a long lasting finish. Its really good to finish a meal with, obviously theres better but a 1 star seems unwarranted

Tastes newer than the 15.

Pay half the price and get the 15.

Excellent drop. And very Tasty.
Currently getting into the over £60+ quid bottles market. And this is a great introduction.

Not so good

Love the Glen Scotia range, but this is just not good, the nose is ok but the taste is just not there and there is a lot of unpleasent wood aftertaste... Not WFM

Well done Campbeltown!

Rich, smooth, caramel and fennel. Sherry nose and later on in the palate. Loved this on Christmas night.

This is a new Glen Scotia 18 year old

Hi this is a new Glen Scotia 18 year old expression which has been finished in sherry casks for one year and not a repackaged 18 year old as your state in your description. This should have its own listing as the previous reviews do not apply to this new 18 year old expression and are therefore misleading.

Robust, spices, wood, licorice

An excellent single Malt!
In my opinion a quite robust dram.
Indeed spicy and woody. Also thought I tasted hints of hazelnut and licorice, but that may be the bourbon cask's contributions.

I really hoped this would be good... Result!

It's like watching Premier League football. Your boys have just signed that young lad, from the French league, who absolutely shone in last year's African Cup of Nations and he walks on the pitch, for his debut, in the most incredibly ornate football boots. They're not just football boots; they're art ...and you're immediately both excited and anxious, because if that lad isn't brilliant, everyone's gonna feel slightly embarrassed.

That is where we are with Glen Scotia's packaging. It is art ...and the contents had better be a match!

Well... It is. Sweet, smooth, soft, delicate, complex.

The young lad made one and scored one. A beautiful malt.
