This is the 15 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glen Scotia in the Campbeltown region, released in 2015 as part of a redesign for their range. The distillers use specially selected American oak casks to age this expression, which compliment the fruit-forward and subtly coastal whisky rather well.
Lots of rich fruit here - apricot jam, satsuma segments and apple pie. Wafts of sea breeze and baking spices develop after a minute.
Vanilla and fruit, with ginger and cinnamon bring a subtle dryness to it.
Quite long with continuing spice.

Well it's Christmas so I have to drink a few nice single malts and do at least one review as is tradition. This is an amazing after dinner dram I just ate a piece of prime rib the size of my head ( which is quite large) and I couldn't have picked a better whisky to wash it down with. The chaps at M.O.M got it just right incredibly juicy with loads of different dark fruits and cinnamon ,good length on the finish and incredibly smooth. Can't really think of a whisky from Campbeltown I didn't like but this is certainly one of the best and I actually got it for a decent price for once. Merry Christmas everyone! The Sugarbear
Just wanted to add to my first review (Oct 21st 2017) that I'm upgrading my rating to 5 stars. On the second bottle now, keep coming back to it.
I'm decidedly NOT an expert. But, I thoroughly loved it! On advice from my much younger niece, to whom I'd given a small sample bottle. On my nose I got the scents of dark fruit, salt, slight musty oakey smell. On my tongue and palate I sensed honey, pepper(!) very light on the tongue, and again the slight musty/oakey smell. Aftertaste to me was of medium length, only then some peaty, light smokey taste. I found it overall delicious for the price. Ordered two more 750 ml bottles for myself and one or my niece!!
Agree with Campbelltown Home Run. There is smoke from the syringol aldehyde released by the lignins after heavy charring. Otherwise the tasting notes by MoM are exactly what I experienced. Small distilleries often take more care and pride in flavour profile than wide profit margins which the large drinks companies do.
