Glen Scotia
Scotland
Single Malt
It's the Campbeltown Malts Festival 2020 bottling from Glen Scotia. The peated single malt was distilled in 2006, and was initially matured in first-fill barrels before being transferred to American oak hogshead casks seasoned with tawny Port. Eventually it was bottled at 14 years old at cask strength, weighing in at 52.8% ABV.
Notes of heather honey, a sea breeze and hedgerow berries.
Silky honey returns, with raspberry, peaches and cream, apple crumble and vanilla custard.
Peat smoke lingers, with forest fruits and baking spices.
This really is a great whisky. Colour on it is really nice. Had read so many good reviews on this and honestly can't recommend enough. So smooth, but so much too it. If you're thinking about getting, don't, just buy it.
Absolute stunner of a whisky. With a hefty 52% to boost all those flavours. Tiny drops of water set it off beautifully. Incredible work from Glen Scotia. A 90 point whisky no doubts.
The best Glen Scotia I've had to date. Perfect integration between all elements, and the mouthfeel is gorgeous.
Glen Scotia do it again. Every year the festival edition knock the socks off me and no matter how much I think they can't improve on the previous edition. Sweet yet smokey and fruity with a fantastic finish. I won't drink another whisky until the supply of this one runs dry!
I prefer this to the GS15. It is very different tho. Berries, salted shortbread, with a drop or two of water the sweetness gets balanced with a background of soury peaty veg. Some barrel spices. Lower body and not as rich as GS15 but dangerously drinkable and tasty. Medium/low peat smoke. For the price close to 5 star. 90/100.
