Glen Scotia 11 Year Old Double Sherry Cask Finish Whisky

Glen Scotia 11 Year Old Double Sherry Cask Finish

Glen Scotia 11yo Sherry Bottling Note

This limited release from Glen Scotia was initially matured in first fill bourbon barrels before a second maturation in both first fill Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks – hence the name, Double Sherry Cask! Creamy bourbon influence and classic sherried spices balance the maritime nature of the whisky, bottled up at cask strength, a healthy 54.1% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Salted caramel and plum skin, leading into brown sugar, waxy peels and peppery oak.

Palate: Creamy vanilla and spiced fudge balanced by a pinch of rock salt, alongside oily citrus and plump dried fruit.

Finish: Toasted and spiced nuts on a dry finish.

Back to Victoriana for me
Unusual on the nose and not as sherried as I expected on the tongue - in fact I picked up quite a lot of iodine. Not awful but I’m not sure this is for me - which is a disappointment after my first venture into Glen Scotia which was the fabulous Victoriana.

Dont risk buying it.
Nose is ok with sherry up front so its promising.
Taste is short lived and the finish is weak with sulfer and rotten eggs coming through.
Wont buy another bottle.

Fantastic!
Buttery, salty, spicey awesomeness! This is a fantastic whisky, and amazing value. Has all the benefits of a cask strength whisky without the alcohol burn. Was going add some water bit enjoying far too much neat. Great value, highly recommend.

Delectable spirit
I am now on my second bottle of this lovely malt. I find it delectable, the flavours, the warm feeling as it glides down your throat. Excellent value.

A bit weird to be honest
Cherry flavoured gob stoppers, liquorice, heavy cinemon notes makes this an acquired taste. Not my favourite Glen Scotia, but lots of depth and very interesting. Recommend the 15 year old over this and also the incredibly good value double wood.
