Glen Scotia 17 Year Old 1991 - Mission (Murray McDavid)

A wonderful 17 year old Glen Scotia, with an interesting story. First off, this was aged in bourbon barrels, before Murray McDavid got hold of it. They took it to the Bruichladdich distillery where it was reracked in port casks before bottling in 2009. A release of 693 bottles at cask strength.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Very wine-like, particularly with berry fruits, and a hint of jam with an oddly smoky quality. Black pepper and cola bottle sweets.

Palate

Spicy and rich with rhubarb and blackberry crumble, sweet porridge oats and sundried tomatoes. It becomes more smoky and spicy on the tongue.

Finish

Sweet and fruity finish, ends of stewed blackberries and toffee.
