Glen Moray Port Cask Finish - Elgin Classic

Glen Moray were one of the first distillery's to experiment with Port casks, with this epression joining their Elgin Classic range of affordable no age statement releases back in 2014. It's treated to an 8 month finishing period in Tawny Port casks before being bottled.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Creamy vanilla at the fore, joined by jammy redcurrants and blackberry. Toasted oak touches in the background.

    Palate

Butterscotch candies, golden barley and a touch of cinnamon. The port cask influence comes through with light notes of raisins and freshly picked red berries.

    Finish

Rather long, with honey, vanilla and a dusting of cocoa.

    Nice

Nice and rich and well worth it's price. One of the better Moray's for me.

    Not for me

It's feels a bit rough around the edges. I bought it on the back of their Chardonnay cask finish which I think is something different and pretty tasty to boot. This one feels a bit harsh on the palate, a little to young perhaps, it almost feels a bit rushed.
