A 16 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the wonderful Glen Moray distillery in the Speyside region, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-Sherry casks.
Thick toffee, chocolate digestive and Demerara sugar. A slight hint of stewed berries comes through a little later.
Smooth, stewed apples, vanilla cream. Pecan pie, scones, dark chocolate.
Medium. Creamy, warming and nutty.

This is a quite nice, easy going sweet Speysider. I suspect that this would have had tangy oak notes at a youger age, but that aspect of it has turned into a liquorice-ishness with age which is quite pleasant. The fruit notes mentioned by the MoM chaps allude me but having a slight cold might be the cause of that. No water needed at all with this one at 40% as the alcohol has well melkpoeder out in maturation. All in all: Nicely balanced and well behaved with a very agreeable but not too complex taste. Might have been better at a higher ABV, but at 33€ I will not be complaining.
Best scotch whiskey I ever recall drinking
Bought 25 bottles for a wedding in sri Lanka, every drop was savoured with Pepsi by our guests. Thankyou david morris of glen moray, Your learned friend Saket Bansal from chandigarh
Wife gave me a bottle for Valentines, this is an exceptionally smooth Speysider...light and sweet with just a touch of spice. Better and more interesting than Macallan 12 for the same price. I don't think this will be my last bottle of GM16.
