This handsome chap before you is the first permanent no age statement single malt from Glen Keith that the distillery in Speyside has released. Matured in ‘traditional’ American oak casks and bottled at 40% ABV, the release of this laid-back malt is very welcome indeed...
Sweet and crisp with orchard fruits and a malty character. Toffee apples and banana skins linger.
Through oaked dryness and an oily note comes vanilla sweetness with helpings of apricot yogurt, dried mango and nectarines. Suggestions of chocolate pudding, a slight grassiness and a little spice form the backdrop.
Subtle floral notes and new oak, with a little honey.
My brother-in-law gave me this because he got it as a gift and doesn't like whisky. It's almost like he knew it's awful. All I get is raisins and grapes. It's sweet and overpowering, more like a brandy than a malt. Suggestions of chocolate pudding? Not once has it asked me if I want a chocolate pudding. Apricot yoghurt? What absolute pretentious wank. I suspect this was distilled by two blokes called Glen and Keith in a lockup in Peckham.
Treated myself to a bottle of this for my birthday as it was on offer, and was not disappointed. It is very smooth and pleasant with no sharp edges on the tongue. I'd certainly buy it again.
It is one of the nicest whiskies I have had in a long time and will buy more and recommend it to others.
It is a bang for bucks glory ! Mellow loads of fruit , some dark dried fruit also , then just melts into vanilla infused butter. It’s not got strong legs but lasts on the tongue , decent mouthfeel , oily tang is lovely , no smoke at all ( which I do love”) , this is a great easy time drinker .
No frills. Toffee and fruit. Simple as that. If you are after something deep and complex then this isn’t for you but for a relaxing dram at the end of the evening it works well. It doesn’t claim to be anything other than what it is so enjoy.
