Single Malt
Scotland
1 Jan 2005
1 Jan 2016

An independent bottling of Glen Grant's superb Speyside single malt - this time distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2016. It's a Gordon & MacPhail bottling, presented with a handsome retro label. You can pretend you've time travelled all the way back to 2005, to the time when Boards of Canada released their fantastic Campfire Headphase album. Good days.
Dark chocolate truffles, raisins and plenty of vanilla-y malt.
Juicy red berries at first, swiftly followed by yet more barley. A hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Chewy oak, plum, toffee.

straight from the opening, I knew this was going to be good: the nose was just so enticing. it's sherried and smooth with a finish that lingers. There are only two problems - it's hard to put the cork back in the bottle (that's my problem) and that I would prefer it to be 46% and non-chillfiltered like other G&M bottlings I've tasted recently - but that's a minor quibble given the quality of this dram.
