Single cask Glen Garioch from Berry Bros. & Rudd's aptly-named Exceptional Casks series. This Highland single malt was distilled in 1988, and rested in a hogshead cask until 2022, at which point 202 bottles were released at 45.4% ABV. A rich and peaty treat!
Earthy aromas of Highland peat bogs, roasted barley, dark chocolate, honeycomb, leather and cigar leaf.
A massive whack of herbaceous peat, resin, oak smoke and tar, moving to dried fruit, cocoa powder and dates.
Spice rises on the finish giving lasting waves of smoke and turf.
