No idea about the other reviews saying its harsh or rough. Sure its not got those wonderfully described ' nose' or exciting palate but Its a great value , well balanced Whisky. We have had loads of this over past 3 or 4 years. A winner !
I usually want to taste whisky that divide people's opinions. This is one of those. So you know it's interesting... On the nose: Pineapple, orange and fruit, with hints of engine oil On the palate : hint of chocolate, herbs, orange and dessert. All and all not bad. One of those that need quite a lot of oxygen to bring the harshness down. A solid NAS whisky
In my view, three stars out of five for this Glengarioch Founder's Reserve. Good at 48% abv., although rather imaginative and fanciful description offered by the Distillery via Master of Malt.
For the money. It’s a tough act to follow. Yes, it’s rough, or at least lacking polish, BUT, what it lacks in finesse and finish it makes up for in sheer ballsy bravado, flavour and its self belief. It’s never going to win a beauty pageant t but this is a solid, unpretentious, hot and biscuity dram. Well worth the money.
Not to bad for a none age statement whiskey. Worth it for the price.
