Single Malt
Scotland
1 Jan 1994

A cask strength 1994 vintage from Glen Garioch, aged in American oak barrels which results in a beautiful vanilla sweetness, coupled with the classic Glen Garioch core of rich fruit and hints of smoke. Just divine! This was distilled from malt made before the distillery was mothballed in 1995.
Quite a sweet, biscuity nose with notes of custard, winter spices and oak. A touch of manuka honey, gingernut, and just a smidgen of smoke.
Oily and slightly smoky, lots of floral notes, as well as vanilla, peach melba, citrus and Nutella!
Good length, very spicy and floral, hints of peat on the tail.

Last week at my 60th birthday party I got this whisky among a couple of other's. But to be honest it is not as good as I thought it would be. Not a lot of taste and even though bottled at more than 53% it just hasn't got what it takes.
I was so disappointed with this bottling from Glen Garioch. I couldn't even drink it as it had no flavor. I haven't had one that was this bad. I have really like the offerings from Glen Garioch such as Founders Reserve, 12 yr, Virgin Oak and the Wine Cask. So, I had to have gotten a bad bottle.
Batch #32 is a really great whisky from an underestimated distiller
The Best I've found for the price.
