Glen Elgin 25 Year Old 1991 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)

Glen Elgin 25 Year Old Bottling Note

Would you look at this - we got our hands on some lip-smacking 25 year old Glen Elgin single malt and bottled it up for our Single Cask Series! This one was distilled in February 1991 (a year before Glen Elgin closed for a few years while new stills were installed and the distillery was refurbished) and aged in a bourbon hogshead for quarter of a century until November 2016, when we then bottled it at cask strength without any chill-filtration or additional colours.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Pineapple chunks in Greek yoghurt, oily hops leading toward floral malt. A spicy hint of rye and subtle beeswax.

Palate More tropical fruit sweetnes at first, though soon enough allspice and cinnamon warmth takes centre stage. Some herbaceous thyme honey and a few segments of chocolate orange.

Finish White pepper warmth continues. Tinned peach and juicy clementine notes last for a couple minutes afterwards.

Reviews for Glen Elgin 25 Year Old 1991 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)
Ha. Nailed it.
'Pineapple Chunks in Greek Yoghurt'. Couldn't have said it better if I'd tried. Hugely fruity, with a lovely spine of rigid oak to pin it up. This is exemplary whisky. Excellent, excellent choice, MoM.
