Description

A splendidly fruity Glen Elgin from independent bottler Lady of the Glen, released as part of its Samhain Series, celebrating the folklore and legends of Scotland. Distilled in 2012, this Speyside single malt spent 14 years maturing in a first-fill tawny Port barrique and the distillery's naturally fruity, gently waxy character makes a fine partner for the rich influence of Port-seasoned oak. Cask #805608 yielded just 296 bottles at a hearty 58.2% ABV, each sporting evocative artwork by Edinburgh-based artist Steven Shand.

Nose

Ripe plums, raspberry jam and orange peel, with honeyed malt, vanilla sponge and a gentle dusting of cinnamon.

Palate

Blackberries, redcurrants and stewed orchard fruits, joined by caramel, sweet malt and dark fruit compote. Toasted oak and warming spice develop alongside a touch of wine-like tannin.

Finish

Dark berries, orange zest and soft oak spice, with a pleasantly drying, fruity Port influence.
