Glen Elgin 13 Year Old 2008 (cask 10122) - The Whisky Cellar
A lip-smacking single malt here distilled by the talented team at Glen Elgin back in 2008, matured 13 years including a finishing in a Sauternes wine cask. It was eventually bottled up by Whisky Cellar in 2021 as part of its third series of releases, with just 298 bottles produced. Ought to be interesting to see how Glen Elgin's excellent single malt interacts with the sweetness of the Sauternes cask.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Quite buttery, with a big helping of candied peel brightness at its heart.
Palate
Jammy sultanas, sugared almonds, peaches, still rather buttery.
Finish
Greengage, barley sugar sweets, and a hint of dry cedar.
