Sherry
A fabulous addition to the Strictly Limited indie bottling range by Càrn Mòr! This single malt was distilled at Glen Elgin in 2007 and matured in a Pedro Ximénez sherry butt for 13 years, before bottling in 2021. Non-chill filtered and with no added colour – the sherry influence is as clear to the eye as it is to the palate with this beautiful bottling! A total of 508 bottles were released.
Honeyed dates, stewed fruits, and dusty oak.
Sticky, dark sherried fruit cake and plump raisins, with tannic, oaky spice.
Zesty with earthy notes of ground coffee, dried herbs, nutmeg, and cooked pear, followed by spicy pepper and cardamon.
This is just a brilliant dram - maybe even better than Glendronach 18 and that's saying something. Could I tell it was Glen Elgin through the intensity of the px cask? Not really but that's not what this whisky is about. Even at nearly 48 proof it's SO smooth and perilously easy drinking.
